Behind the glow

STAR MOON started in 2018 with one plug-in warmer and a very small kiln. The idea has not moved since: scented wax, melted by a bulb, in a ceramic shade that someone painted with an actual brush.

Why no flame

A candle gives you fire, smoke and soot along with the scent. A warmer skips all three. The bulb warms the dish, the wax melts, the cutouts in the ceramic throw patterned light on the wall. That is the whole trick, and it is enough.

The painting bench

Every shade is glazed and painted by hand, so two warmers of the same design are close cousins rather than twins. The same bench produces our dinner plates and pasta bowls, which is why the dinnerware carries the same vintage European look.
